Jets pull off two sensational comebacks over the weekend
The Winnipeg Jets are not a club that fellow teams should take lightly.
Finding themselves down 3-0 and 2-1 entering the third period of Saturday and Sunday's games, respectively, the Jets piled it on in both affairs, scoring a combined nine third period goals, while allowing zero against in the final 20 minutes of each game.
Down 3-0 to Carolina after 40 minutes on Saturday morning, Winnipeg rallied for five-straight markers to collect a sensational third period win on the road in Raleigh.
And then just one day later, the team did it again.
This time, it was the Buffalo Sabres that thought they had the Jets right where they wanted them: up 2-1 heading into the final frame.
Clearly, they didn't watch the tape from Winnipeg's Saturday affair, as the Jets poured it on in the final 20, scoring four times for a clean weekend sweep.
The most recent of the two wins was the final test of a three-game road trip through the United States, to which the Jets went 2-1-0. The victory gave Winnipeg a 39-16-5 record and moved the team into first place in the Central Division with 83 points in 60 games. Dallas, which also has 83 points, has done so in three more games than Winnipeg.
The Jets sit behind just Florida, Vancouver, New York and Boston league-wide, but trail only Paul Maurice and the Panthers (.705) in terms of points percentage on the year (.692).
Next on the menu for Winnipeg is a home-and-home with the Seattle Kraken which begins on Tuesday night in Winnipeg, before the teams take things west to Climate Pledge Arena for a Friday night showdown. Both games can be viewed live on TSN.
