Jets Fall to Ottawa Senators, Lose Sixth-Straight
RECAP:
The Winnipeg Jets are slumping horribly, and cannot seem to catch a break.
Sure, they got Gabe Vilardi back from the injured list and Connor Hellebuyck celebrated his 500th career game with fans, but once again, the Jets lost.
It has now been six-straight losses and three of which have come at home.
Things are not pretty in Winnipeg at the moment.
Oh wait, they scored a power play goal... if that means anything.
After failing to score in 19-straight opportunities, the Jets finally found a way to capitalize on the man advantage. Mark Scheifele's third-period strike was his 23rd of the season and gave Winnipeg its first power play goal in 20 chances, while tying the game at twos late in the third period.
But it was all for naught, as the Jets ultimately got scored on on a Senators' man advantage, as captain Brady Tkachuk celebrated with visiting fans with 1:45 to play, sealing the deal on Winnipeg's sixth-straight loss.
Nikolaj Ehlers got the other goal for Winnipeg, while Ridly Greig and Boris Katchouk got the other strikes for the visitors.

QUOTABLE:
Senators goaltender Joonas Korpisalo on taking on Connor Hellebuyck:
“Of course, it’s fun to go one-on-one again the top goalie in the league. He played a great game today. It’s always fun to play against those guys.”
Ottawa's Brady Tkachuk on Connor Hellebuyck:
"It’s a great accomplishment that he had 500 games. That’s pretty cool and it’s something to strive for.”
Rick Bowness on Winnipeg's compete level:
“We certainly need more from certain players, we do. Every team does. When you’re going through a (slide) like this, you just need more from everybody and we’re going to get that. We’re going to have to (have) a little bit more desperation from the start of the game and on. Again, we’re just finding ways (to lose). You take a late penalty, those things hurt you. We’re finding ways to lose games. We’ll get going again. We’ll find ways to win games. We’ll get going again.”
WHAT’S NEXT:
Winnipeg will look to correct its (many) wrongs in the coming week. Just hitting the midway mark of the season-high five-game homestand, the Jets will host the Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames this coming week, with the first game taking place on Monday night. Both can be viewed live on TSN. Monday's game features a rare 8:00 PM central start time.
