Brossoit leads charge as Jets top Canes 2-1
RECAP:
The Winnipeg Jets have improved to 14-8-2 with a 2-1 win over the visiting Carolina Hurricanes from Canada Life Centre on Monday night.
Backup goaltender? Yeah right.
Laurent Brossoit looked like a million bucks on Monday, as he held the Hurricanes to just one goal - a deflection off his own defenceman's skate and into the net - and turned aside 42 shots fired his way.
His performance was stellar, and he certainly looked the part, as he and his Jets teammates suited up for the first time in the Royal Canadian Air Force-inspired uniforms for game one of three home tilts on the season.
Kyle Connor opened the scoring for Winnipeg, before Nikolaj Ehlers got the winner midway through the second period. Martin Necas responded for Carolina, but the visitors just couldn't solve Brossoit as the game wore on.
In fact, the Hurricanes out shot-attempted Winnipeg 92-43, missing the net an incredible 28 times. Carolina had 18 high-danger scoring chances to the Jets' eight.
Winnipeg closed out its homestand with a 2-2-0 record after dropping the first two contests.

QUOTEABLE:
Rick Bowness on Laurent Brossoit:
“Listen, tonight was the reason we signed him. He was the difference, there’s no question. But again, you’re not going to beat that team without great goaltending and LB certainly gave us that tonight. That was his best game, by far.”
Nikolaj Ehlers on Antti Raanta's diving poke check:
“Oh, well I won the race, I mean, he made a good play. I thought he threw his stick a little bit, but it is what it is. I need to bear down and get that in the net. That’s as easy as it is. I’m not too happy about myself on that one, especially in a 2-1 game.”
WHAT’S NEXT:
