Jets shut down Sharks, pick up 1-0 shutout win Wednesday
RECAP:
The Winnipeg Jets are back on a winning streak.
On Wednesday night, the Jets took down the 31st-ranked San Jose Sharks by way of a minimal 1-0 score.
The shutout was Connor Hellebuyck's third of the season and 35th of his career. He needed to make just 17 saves, while forward Mark Scheifele helped out with another game-stopper.
Morgan Barron scored the lone goal for Winnipeg, which improved to 32-14-5 on the year and remains in the hunt near the top of the Central Division.
The goal was a result of a long-range Neal Pionk point shot, to which two Jets caused problems in front of San Jose's net. Adam Lowry got his stick on the puck and redirected it in off of Barron, giving Winnipeg its only goal of the game with just 2:13 left to play in the first period.
The Jets put up 40 shots on goal, has Kaapo Kahkonen turned aside 39, pretty much producing all of the Sharks' highlights on the night. To be fair, the game was San Jose's first since January 31.

QUOTABLE:
Mark Scheifele on his game-saving stop:
"A lot of mini-sticks. That was exactly what it was. I don’t think (Hellebuyck) knew where the puck was, so a defensive play comes out of me every once in a while."
Rick Bowness on Winnipeg's recent lack of scoring:
"We had 84 shot attempts. We had more than enough scoring chances to score more than one goal. It's not going in. Give their goalie a ton of credit. Huge saves. We were all over the net. Just keep pushing."
WHAT’S NEXT:
The Winnipeg Jets now head out on the road for a 9:00 PM central showdown with the league-leading Vancouver Canucks. Their fellow western Canadian rival has been red-hot over the past two months, as both teams enter the test on miniature two-game winning streaks. The game is the late-night showing on Hockey Night in Canada.
