Manitoba Moose bounce back for weekend split.
The Manitoba Moose have clawed their way back into their share of third-place within the Western Conference's Central Division.
Brad Lambert was the hero in the second game of a back-to-back vs. the Calgary Wranglers this week.
Coming off a two-game sweep of the Rockford IceHogs at home last weekend, the Moose hit the road for two games in Alberta.
Things did not start off quite as nicely for the visitors, as Manitoba found itself on the wrong side of a 6-2 thrashing in the first of two games. Lambert and Danny Zhilkin each scored, but Collin Delia allowed six goals on the night, as the Moose fell to 9-10-0 on the year heading into the rematch.
That game couldn't have gone much better for the boys in blue and white, as Manitoba evened its record and pulled back into a three-way tie with Iowa and Rockford for third-place in the division with 20 points. The Moose have played the fewest games of their divisional mates.
The game was one of responses for Manitoba, which fell behind three separate times before ultimately gaining its first lead by way of the Lambert overtime winner at 1:17 of the extra frame.
Kristian Reichel found his first two goals of the season, while Jeffrey Viel also found the twine for Manitoba. Five different Moose players put up multi-point efforts on the night, while Oskari Salminen stood tall between the pipes, as he turned away 27 of the 30 shots he faced.
Interestingly, two of Calgary's three goals came during Manitoba power plays, with the Wranglers' first and second tallies coming shorthanded. Each of the Moose markers came at even strength.
Next up for Manitoba is quick stop back at Canada Life Centre, as the 10-10-0 Moose host the second-place Milwaukee Admirals on Friday evening and Sunday afternoon from downtown Winnipeg. Both games can be viewed via AHL TV.
