notable dates on the winnipeg jets' 2024-25 season schedule
The Winnipeg Jets released their 2024-25 NHL season schedule on Tuesday. Jets fans should have no problem turning the page on the 2023-24 chapter while looking ahead to a new season packed with marquee matchups.
The schedule features an eight-game homestand starting January 2 against Anaheim, concluding January 18 against Calgary.
So, prepare your pens and calendars, Jets fans, here are the dates you’ll want to keep an eye on this season:
Season Opener:
Winnipeg’s regular season kicks off Wednesday, October 9, when the Jets visit their western Canadian foes – the Edmonton Oilers.
The Jets went 1-2 last year against the defending Stanley Cup finalists. Edmonton stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were never held off the scoresheet – combining for nine points in those three meetings.
This is one of three matchups with the Oilers in 2024-25, as the Jets make another trip to Alberta on March 20, before hosting Edmonton in their second-last game of the season, Sunday, April 13.
Western-Canadian Matchups:
The Jets see Vancouver and Calgary three times each as well.
Calgary
The Jets will see the Flames on the road in late October. Calgary will be welcomed by the Canada Life Centre twice in a span of eight days in January – Saturday, January 18 and Sunday, January 26.
Vancouver
Winnipeg will host the Canucks twice in the new year on Tuesday, January 14 and Sunday, March 30. They visit the west coast on March 18 at Rogers Arena.
Minnesota:
The Jets will also see Central Division rival Minnesota Wild three times this season, hosting them twice.
Winnipeg will play host to the Wild on Sunday, October 13 and Saturday, December 21. The Jets will make a trip to the state of hockey on November 25.
Colorado:
The first stop on the Winnipeg Jets revenge tour is Thursday, November 7 at the Canada Life Centre.
Winnipeg will see the Avalanche four times in 2024-25, hosting Nathan MacKinnon and the Avs once again on Saturday, January 11. They first visit Denver for a New Year’s Eve showdown on December 31, before one more trip to the Rockies on January 22.
What about Utah?
The NHL has arrived in Utah, and Jets fans will have the opportunity to see the NHL’s newest club live on Tuesday, November 5. The Jets will also get a trip down south to visit the Delta Center in Salt Lake City on April 5.
Paul Maurice and Nate Schmidt:
Paul Maurice has been a popular topic amongst Winnipeggers since the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
In a post-game interview just seconds after winning his first Stanley Cup, Maurice, when asked about his time in Winnipeg, said, “If I could have one thing more, it would be for the Winnipeg Jets to win the next Stanley Cup.”
Since leaving the Jets two seasons ago, Maurice has led the Florida Panthers to back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals appearances – finally hoisting the trophy this season.
After being bought-out by the Jets earlier this week, Nate Schmidt signed with the Panthers on Tuesday, adding another element to Maurice’s third trip back to the Canada Life Centre – where he has yet to win with Florida.
Maurice, Schmidt and the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers visit Winnipeg on Tuesday, November 19.
Two GOATs approach retirement…
Alex Ovechkin (38) is unlikely to call it quits until he breaks Wayne Gretzky’s record of 894 career goals, which will likely require two more seasons. The Great Eight, who has averaged 41 goals per season his last three seasons, now sits just 41 goals back of Gretzky’s record.
Ovi visits Canada Life Centre on Tuesday, March 25.
Sidney Crosby (36)’s 94 points in the 2023-24 campaign were his most since the 2018-19 season, where he scored 100.
Sid the Kid is showing few signs of slowing down and may need a little more playoff magic with the Penguins before hanging up the gloves.
Crosby and the Penguins come to town on Sunday, October 20.
4 Nations Face-Off
For the first time since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, some of the NHL’s best athletes will be suiting up internationally when the puck drops on the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off February 12.
The tournament will run from February 12-20 and will be played in lieu of an all-star game. The 4 Nations Face-Off will feature Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States.
Winnipeg Jets star forward Kyle Connor and Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck will be suiting up for the United States.
Canada has yet to release its full roster, but defenceman Josh Morrissey certainly has his name in the mix of blue liners that could represent Team Canada in the tournament.

Sunday, December 8: Columbus Blue Jackets
