Teemu Selanne and Teppo Numminen to Join Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame

Teemu Selanne and Teppo Numminen will be the latest members of the Winnipeg Jets to see their sweaters hung from the rafters of Canada Life Centre. On Wednesday, the Jets announced that the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame would be growing by two members this coming season. Established in 2016, Bobby Hull, Ulf Nilsson, Anders Hedberg, Dale Hawerchuk, Ab McDonald, Lars-Erik Sjoberg, Randy Carlyle and Thomas Steen have already been inducted as members of the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame. https://twitter.com/CBrooksie84/status/1559970033391898624 “Winnipeg gave me my start in the NHL and holds a special place in my heart,” Selanne said. “I have a lot of great on-ice memories from my time playing in the city, but equally as many off-ice memories in a community that has made me feel like one of their own since day one. I feel beyond privileged to be recognized by the Jets in this way, and to do it alongside my good friend Teppo is a true honour.” The two Finns will see their sweaters raised up to the rafters in downtown Winnipeg before the Jets play host to the visiting Anaheim Ducks on Thursday, November 17. “To be inducted into the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame alone means a great deal, but to be inducted with Teemu is beyond words for me,” said Numminen. “I couldn’t have asked for a better city to play the first eight years of my NHL career in, and to be recognized in front of the same passionate community that made playing hockey a treat every single night will be an unforgettable moment for my family and I." A celebration of the careers of both Selanne and Numminen will also be had at the Winnipeg Jets gala just two days prior to the induction ceremony. The gala will mark the return to an in-person event for the first time in two COVID-filled years. All proceeds of the event support the True North Youth Foundation and its three core programs – the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy, Camp Manitou, and Project 11.
