The Winnipeg Jets have made three moves ahead of their Sunday evening tilt with Alexander Ovechkin and the visiting Washington Capitals.
Following what appeared to be a serious-looking leg injury on Friday night, defenceman Logan Stanley - who only made his return to the lineup following a broken foot on Thursday - hurt himself in an awkward collision with the boards against the Chicago Blackhawks. Stanley actually played one more shift before exiting the game.
He was placed on the team's injured reserve alongside Saku Maenalanen on Sunday afternoon, to who hurt himself the night prior in St. Louis. Sam Gagner filled in for Maenalanen on Friday after he went down for the count with what appeared to be an injury to his upper-body. A loose-hanging arm following a neutral zone collision may indicate an issue with the arm, collarbone or shoulder.
According to associate coach Scott Arniel, both Stanley and Maenalanen will be out of the Jets' lineup for the time being.
Filling in up front may be Kevin Stenlund, who the team recalled late on Sunday afternoon from the AHL's Manitoba Moose. Despite Dominic Toninato bouncing around between the two clubs, this time it was Stenlund - a first-year, offseason signing - who drew the nod from Mark Morrisson and company.
In 19 games for the Moose, the 26-year-old Stenlund has put up four goals and 14 points and sits second in overall team scoring. He leads the team with 47 shots on net and has two power play goals to his name. Whether he draws into the lineup on Sunday remains to be told. Stenlund has appeared in 71 games over parts of four seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has 11 goals, 20 points and 22 penalty minutes to his name.
