Jets sign lundmark for 2024-25
The Winnipeg Jets and defenceman Simon Lundmark have agreed to terms on a one-year contract for the 2024-25 hockey season.
The deal comes in at the league minimum of $775K. Lundmark, who has never played an NHL game, was selected by Winnipeg 51st overall in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft.
He suited up in 67 games for the Jets' American Hockey League affiliate, Manitoba last year, where he produced five goals and 17 points. Should he remain in the AHL this coming season, he will make $100K. If he earns a bump up to the NHL level and joins the Jets - or another NHL club - he will begin earning a percentage of his $775K salary.
The 23-year-old has now played in 188 career AHL games with Manitoba, where he has scored 12 times and added another 36 assists for 48 points, while sitting in the box for just 54 total penalty minutes over parts of three different seasons.
Lundmark took home gold for Sweden at the 2016 U17 World Hockey Championship - one of five different occasions he has suited up for his country.
With Ville Heinola and Lundmark now signed, all that's left for general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff to do is put a new deal in place for RFA forward Cole Perfetti. He is coming off his entry-level contract and in need of a new deal before the 2024-25 season. His up-and-down season was highlighted by a five-game goal scoring streak, but concluded on a sour note, as he was scratched multiple times in the stretch run and only made his way into one postseason contest.
