Jets rely on strong power play, beat Wild 6-3
RECAP:
The Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild combined for nine goals and 36 penalty minutes in a highly-entertaining, back-and-forth, Central Division affair on Tuesday night.
The Jets scored twice in the early going, before pulling out to a 3-1 lead through 40 minutes. The teams exchanged five goals in the third, with the Jets coming out victorious, by way of a 6-3 final.
Winnipeg's top line duo of Kyle Connor and Gabe Vilardi stayed hot, combining for six points, with Vilardi scoring twice.
The Jets put up two power play goals once again, marking the third-straight game with multiple goals on the man advantage, after a lengthy stretch of poor power play success.
Backup goaltender Laurent Brossoit stood tall between the pipes, turning aside 36 shots for the Jets, which improved to 34-15-5 on the year and leapfrogged the Colorado Avalanche for second-place in the Central Division.
Vilardi opened the scoring for Winnipeg, before Mason Appleton put one in just 14 seconds later. Connor get the third marker for Winnipeg, before Vilardi, Sean Monahan and Nino Niederreiter added third period tallies, finishing off the Wild 6-3.

QUOTABLE:
Laurent Brossoit on facing a Wild team that had just scored 10 goals the day prior:
“The mindset was I hope they got nothing left. But I don’t think that was the case. You can tell they were pretty confident and zipping the puck around, especially on their power play. Lucky enough to make enough saves for the win.”
Gabe Vilardi on if the Jets were feeling better following this game than that of Monday afternoon in Calgary:
“Yeah, there’s going to be breakdowns every game, you’re not going to be perfect. Obviously, we won, so it’s a bit of a better mood.”
WHAT’S NEXT:
The Winnipeg Jets now head out on the road for a one-off stop in Chicago for a test against Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks on Friday before returning home on Sunday.
