Jets send St. Louis home singing the Blues
RECAP:
It tastes awful, but it works.
You know, the old Buckley's catchphrase.
Sometimes the medicine is exactly what the doctor ordered, but it just doesn't go down as well as you'd like.
Tuesday night at Canada Life Centre was another prime example of that.
The Winnipeg Jets beat the visiting St. Louis Blues 4-2, but once again nearly gave it away thanks to a dreadful second period.
Pulling out ahead 3-1 with goals from Sean Monahan, Brenden Dillon and Kyle Connor in the first period alone, Winnipeg gave up a second period tally to the Blues, before nearly handing another to the visitors in the third period.
But the hero proved to be Alex Iafallo, who scored his first goal in a span of 20 games, and picking up his first point in nine, as the Jets ended the game with a 4-2 victory over the visitors from Missouri.
Laurent Brossoit tended the goal for Winnipeg, which gave Connor Hellebuyck his second night off of the week, to which Brossoit responded with 36 stops on the 38 pucks fired his way.
Next up for Winnipeg is a three-game road trip down south.

QUOTABLE:
Brenden Dillon on his new career-high goal:
“Yeah, I don’t now. Usually I’m just trying to get the puck to all four of those guys there. They are a little more skilled than I am. But on that play, Scheif went right back to me. I didn’t have to move. I just put my head down and fired it.”
Alex Iafallo on busting through his slump:
You go through slumps. It sucks, you never want to do that. But at the same time, do anything to help the team out. You gotta play good defensively, blocking shots, whatever it is. I try to focus on that. If you’re not scoring, just focusing on the small things I guess.
WHAT’S NEXT:
The Winnipeg Jets now hit the road for three-straight away games against the Dallas Stars (Thursday evening), Carolina Hurricanes (Saturday morning) and Buffalo Sabres (Sunday evening). All three games can be viewed live on TSN.
