QUOTABLE:
Washington coach Spencer Carberry on the Jets:
“Well, they had the puck for 75 per cent of the game. That makes it difficult to create any offense, and when we did, not nearly a good enough job getting to the interior, zero traffic on Hellebuyck, so anything that we did generate scoring-chance-wise he saw it clear. Obviously everybody knows if he sees a shot he’s going to stop it, so it’s not a recipe for success against this team.”
Adam Lowry on Neal Pionk's goal:
“Power forward! We were able to get the puck to Appy, and that’s great vision to find him on the weak side, and he just takes it to the net like a power forward. To be able o tuck that one in, it’s nice to see it go in for him. He’s been really hard for us lately. It was nice for us to get the lead and then continue on. I thought that even after we scored the first one, we kept pressing and kept generating chances.”
WHAT’S NEXT:
Next up for Winnipeg is the second test of the three-game homestand, with the Nashville Predators rolling into town for Country Night at Canada Life Centre on Wednesday. The Jets then close out the short stay with a Friday night tilt against the Anaheim Ducks. Wednesday's game can be viewed live on Sportsnet at 6:30 PM central.
