Jets fall behind early, battle back, give up lead, lose late
RECAP:
The Winnipeg Jets were unable to keep their home winning streak alive on Tuesday, falling 4-3 to the visiting Seattle Kraken from Canada Life Centre.
Despite the loss, Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele picked up a monumental point, as he recorded an assist on Kyle Connor's second period marker, giving him 700 points in his career.
The game started much like that of Winnipeg's three most recent outings, with the Jets falling behind early.
And much like the common theme lately, the Jets battled back to tie the game late, and even pull ahead in the third period. This time however, they couldn't get the job done, and gave up both the game-tying and game-winning goals in the third period.
Entering the third period all squared up at twos, Winnipeg pulled ahead on a stretch play by Nino Niederreiter. But they held their lead for all of 25 seconds, as Tomas Tatar tied things back up at threes on a redirection the following shift.
Andre Burakovsky got a power play wrist shot to sneak through both Dylan Samberg and Connor Hellebuyck, as Logan Stanley watched on from the penalty box.
Hellebuyck made just 20 saves on the 24 shots he faced, dropping his first game at Canada Life Centre since January.
