Winnipeg picks up points in 14th-straight game
RECAP:
The Winnipeg Jets have improved to 29-9-4 on the season thanks to a 2-1 home victory win over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night.
Even when it looked nearly impossible, the Jets battled back and kept their remarkable streaks alive.
Thanks to a strong final five minutes of play, Winnipeg came back from a 1-0 deficit, scoring twice in the final 3:29 to seal the deal on an incredible comeback effort.
Adam Lowry picked up the primary assists on both goals, first setting up Gabe Vilardi on the doorstep for the equalizer, before springing Nikolaj Ehlers for the game-winner with just 1:05 to go.
Canada Life Centre erupted for Vilardi's 10th of the season, before exploding once again just two minutes later as Ehlers put a heavy wrist shot past the brick wall that was Petr Mrazek through 55 minutes.
The Jets heavily outshot the Blackhawks in the final frame, putting up 12 shots to Chicago's five in the period, for a 28-21 total through the full 60-minute affair.
Laurent Brossoit drew the start in net, giving Connor Hellebuyck a rare night off on Thursday. He made the most of his opportunity and made 20 saves, picking up his sixth win of the season in front of a sellout crowd of 15,225 at Canada Life Centre.
