Jets lose fifth-straight
RECAP:
For the fifth-straight game, the Winnipeg Jets walked away as the loser.
No, the 4-1 final wasn't fully indicative of the gameplay, but once again, the Jets did not pick up a point, falling to 44-23-6 on the year, and have lost five-straight contests 0-4-1.
The red-hot Nashville Predators are now just four points behind Winnipeg for third place in the Central Division.
Unable to take advantage of some sleepy opponents, the Jets have not been able to take advantage of Colorado or Dallas, which also haven't fared too well over their last five games.
Thursday marked the second game of five-straight from Canada Life Centre, but Winnipeg was unable to use its home crowd to its advantage - despite Logan Stanley firing the building up with an early first period tilt with Winnipeg's own Keegan Kolesar.
Vegas scored first, before Winnipeg tied it up on another Sean Monahan deflection. The Jets were unable to pull ahead, despite numerous opportunities on Golden Knights penalties.
Winnipeg finished the game 0/5 on the man advantage and fell to one for its last 21 opportunities on the power play.
The visitors found the go-ahead goal late in the third period off the stick of Ivan Barbashev, who - alongside Jack Eichel - also potted empty-net tallies, finishing off the Jets 4-1.

QUOTABLE:
Vegas head coach Bruce Cassidy on the Winnipeg Jets:
“At the end of the day those types of wins mean a little bit more. They’re a playoff team, it’s a team we’re starting to develop a mutual hatred for. It was physical and those bring the best out of us, I think, those types of games. And then Logan gives you the big saves when you need him, so he’s going to feel pretty good about his game too. So you’ll leave here with a lot of your guys feeling good about their game and that’s important this time of year.”
Nikolaj Ehlers on missing a wide-open net:
“Obviously, I will be practicing that tomorrow. In a game like this, if you miss a chance like this and go up 2-1 in a hard-fought game like tonight, we will see what happens the other way. It would have been nice to put that in, and the way it was going today, we probably would have ended up with the two points. That’s on me.”
WHAT’S NEXT:
The Jets will spend Good Friday on the ice at the Hockey For All Centre with a 12:00 noon practice, before hitting the ice again on Saturday night in an all-Canadian showdown with the visiting Ottawa Senators. That game is No. 3 of a five-game homestand. It will take place at 6:00 PM central time and can be viewed live on Sportsnet.
