Jets drop first preseason contest to wild
RECAP:
The Winnipeg Jets are back in action.
Preseason action, that is.
On Sunday afternoon, the Jets fell to 0-0-1 on the preseason with a come-from-behind loss to the visiting Minnesota Wild.
The Jets got off to a strong start, pulling ahead 1-0 and then 2-0 before the game was half a period old. Goals from Morgan Barron and Danny Zhilkin gave Winnipeg its lead. But a third period collapse sent the game to overtime, where the Jets were unable to capitalize on a man advantage, falling 3-2 with 61 seconds to play.
Minnesota scored once in the second period, before tying the game at two with 2:58 to play in the third period.
With Brad Lambert drawing a tripping penalty on a strong solo breakaway effort, the Jets were unable to score on the ensuing 4-on-3 man advantage. The Wild brought the puck up ice and beat Winnipeg product Isaac Poulter with just over a minute to play in overtime, sealing the deal on a 3-2 win for Minnesota.
The two clubs will reconvene on September 30 in Minnesota for Winnipeg's fifth of six preseason games.
