Dominic Toninato Signs Two-Year Extension to Remain in Winnipeg

Forward Dominic Toninato will be sticking around Winnipeg, at least for a couple more winters. Those cold months, however, are nothing new for the Duluth, MN. product, who grew up just seven hours southeast of Manitoba's capital. Sure, he may have been a Minnesota Wild fan in his younger days, but the 29-year-old has turned out to be a pretty decent player for the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose over the past three seasons. Although spending the majority of his time in the American Hockey League with the Moose in 2020-21 and this season, Toninato did manage to stick with the Jets for 77 games last year, where he recorded seven goals and added another seven assists for 14 points. He was sent down to Manitoba in the early stages of the season this year, but has thrived alongside fellow roster cut, Jansen Harkins, to the tune of 19 goals and 35 points in 50 regular season games for the Moose. https://twitter.com/CBrooksie84/status/1648786596181983232 On Wednesday, the Jets announced they had locked Toninato in for another two years at the discount rate of $775K, should he be playing at the NHL level with the Jets. If he suits up for the Moose again, the contract will be likely half the total value. It will be a two-way deal, as well, meaning he is free to go up and down within the organization without having to pass through Waivers. In 169 career NHL games, Toninato has 12 goals, 18 assists and 30 points.
