Dominic Toninato Passes Through Waivers Unclaimed
Having been dangled in front of the league on a silver platter, forward Dominic Toninato remains a member of the Winnipeg Jets' organization.
The team placed Toninato on Waivers, as a stipulation within the league's rules means a player on a one-way contract serving as a recall from the minors can only remain able to go up and down between the NHL and AHL roster if they have passed through Waivers unclaimed once in the past 30 days.
Toninato's 30 days was nearing expiry, so Winnipeg put him on Waivers and there was no significant interest across the board, meaning he will remain eligible to serve on both the Jets and Moose with no penalty over the next month.
For now, he will remain in limbo, working with both clubs as the Jets sort out their injury concerns stemming from Kyle Connor's lengthy absence.
It is most likely that Toninato will be sent to the Moose, but for now, he is available if Winnipeg needs. The Moose finish off a two-game set with Milwaukee on Sunday, while Winnipeg opens a four-game homestand against the Central Division-leading Colorado Avalanche from Canada Life Centre on Saturday night.
