Winkler Product Takes Weekly WHL award
Winkler product and Boston Bruins product Reid Dyck has been named the Western Hockey League's goaltender of the week.
Suiting up in three games for his Swift Current Broncos, the 20-year-old posted a 2-0-1 record to go alongside a 0.85 goals against average and a sensational .970 save percentage. Oh, and his two wins? Yes, they were both by way of shutout.
The 6-foot-4, 195-pound goaltender picked up back-to-back shutouts as he helped the Broncos out of a four-game hole, snapping a winless streak and finding his first clean sheet of the season in a battle with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. He then did it all over again against the Regina Pats, picking up another star of the game performance in straight starts.
It was the first time since the 2014-15 season that any Broncos goaltender had posted back-to-back shutout appearances.
Dyck then came in in relief against the Brandon Wheat Kings, turning aside nine of the 10 pucks he faced in the third period, before the Wheat Kings beat him on the overtime game-winner.
Drafted by the Bruins in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, Dyck owns an 13-6-1 record on the season to go alongside a 2.81 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. Swift Current currently sits tied for fifth in the Western Conference with Brandon with a 26-19-4-2 record through 51 games.
