Elijah Carels and Luke Zacharias of the Pembina Valley Twisters are among the four Manitoba Major Hockey League stars to be named Players of the Month for November.
Carels was named Player of the Month after scoring 11 goals and dishing out seven assists in just 10 games during the month of December while playing for a Twisters team that is 15-1-1 on the season and in first place in the MMJHL.
Zacharias, meanwhile, was named goaltender of the month, after going 5-0-0 in five starts with a goals against average of 2.00 and a save percentage of .922.
The Defensemen of the Month was Jared Hulme of the Stonewall Jets, who had four goals and seven points in nine games for the 10-8-0, fifth-place Jets.
Noah Gilbert, the goaltender for the 11-7-0, third-place St. James Canucks, was named Rookie of the Month. In five appearances, Gilbert went 4-0-0 with a 2.19 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
The big game this week in the MMJHL goes Sunday, Dec. 8, when the second-place St. Vital Victorias travel to Morris to face the first-place Pembina Valley Twisters.
