Chase Bertholet named WHL's top player.
Both Chase Bertholet and the Spokane Chiefs closed out the year in memorable fashion. Putting up a couple goals and two more assists, The Pas, Manitoba's finest WHL player also potted the 10,000th career goal in Chiefs history.
In doing so, his strong offensive week resulted in the Western Hockey League naming him their Player of the Week.
Putting up a whopping 20 points in his final nine games of the calendar year, Bertholet scored a hat trick and five points the day after the club's 10,000th goal, concluding his 2023 on an absolute high. As a matter of fact, it was his first CHL hat trick, coming in game No. 195. In the red-hot, two-game stretch, he had five goals and nine points.
As the 14th WHL Player of the Week this season, Bertholet will need to keep producing in order to help his Chiefs into the postseason picture. Currently sitting eighth in the Western Conference, Spokane is just under .500 with a 14-16-3 record through 33 games.
The 20-year-old former Norman Wolves AAA star previously suited up in parts of three different seasons for the former Winnipeg ICE, prior to being moved to Spokane in the 2021-22 season.
