Ice captain takes home three individual year-end awards
On Friday, the Manitoba Female U-18 AAA Hockey League announced its year-end awards and all-star teams. Leading the charge was Winnipeg Ice forward Stephanie Jacob.
The University of Maine commit picked up three individual awards, while also earning a first team all-star nod for the second-straight year.
Jacob took home the MFHL's Top Forward, Top Scorer and Most Valuable Player awards, while joining teammates Katelin Moffatt (first team), Breanne Comte (second team) and Avary Lazarenko (second team) as year-end all-stars.

"This year I was just able to find a whole new level," Jacob told Game On. "I think a lot of it comes from building up confidence throughout my years in the league. It takes time to figure out where my game is at, knowing what I can do, and how I can play to work on making it better. But honestly, it was really just a whole other level of confidence this season."
Serving as the captain of the Ice, the Grade 12 student finished the 2023-24 season with 53 goals, 73 points and 40 penalty minutes in 48 games this year.
She put up a whopping 304 shots on goal and concluded the year with a +46 ranking. Nine of Jacob's goals came on the power play, while six were game-winners. She averaged over a point-and-a-half per game, while operating at over a goal-per-game pace all season.
Despite the personal achievements, Jacob's top goal remains unchanged.
"I would obviously like to try and win another championship," she said. "I mean, it's definitely easier said than done, but that is certainly the goal again this year. We all know that we can get it done, but it's just a matter of doing all the little things right, working hard together as a team, and just taking it one game at a time."
Currently up 2-0 in her opening round playoff series against Elyse Denbow and the Central Plains Capitals, Jacob and the Ice will look to finish things off at the Hockey For All Centre on Saturday evening (6:15 PM).
