The quest to hoist the Turnbull Cup begins Friday night with the post-season getting underway for all eight teams.
Portage Terriers (1) VS Waywayseecappo Wolverines (8)
Coming off a league-high 46-win season, the MJHL-leading Portage Terriers open up their first round against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, who had a remarkable season. The 46 wins by the Terriers (46-11-2-1) is the most since the 2015-16 Terrier team (52 wins) who won the second of three consecutive championships for Portage. Meanwhile, the Wolverines finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 28-27-0-2-3 record, marking the first time since the 2010-11 season that the club has finished above the .500 mark. In the past two seasons, Waywayseecappo combined for just 22 wins, before putting up 28 this season.

Swan Valley Stampeders (2) VS Dauphin Kings (7)
The Swan Valley Stampeders are coming off a season which saw them collect the second-most wins in franchise history with 52, and finished just six points behind the Portage Terriers for top spot in the MJHL. They face a Dauphin Kings team that is back in the postseason after missing the previous two. The 29 wins registered by the Kings were the most since their 40-win season in 2013-14 when they lost in the finals.

Steinbach Pistons (3) VS Winnipeg Blues (6)
The defending Turnbull Cup champion Steinbach Pistons finished third in the MJHL, and get a date with the Winnipeg Blues in the first round of this year’s playoffs. The Pistons allowed a league-low 127 goals against, while the Winnipeg Blues averaged 5.30 goals per-game in the last 10 games of the regular season, finishing 8-1-0-1 in that span.

The fourth place Selkirk Steelers take on the Virden Oil Capitals in round one of the playoffs this season. A year removed from an MJHL finals defeat against the Steinbach Pistons, the Virden Oil Capitals are looking to get back their this season with a different result, while the Selkirk Steelers will be looking to advance past the first round for the first time in three seasons. Each team won three games during their six regular season meetings.
