If losing in Game 7 of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fifth-straight season wasn't enough of a blow to Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner, try this, a car-jacking.
Yes, you read it right.
Marner and a friend were the victims of an Etobicoke, Ontario car-jacking on Monday evening as the two were heading to a local movie theatre in town.
They were approached by three masked assailants, who demanded Marner to give up his black Range Rover, to which the 25-year-old hockey star obliged. According to Toronto Police, the car thieves either did not recognize Marner or know who he was. This was not a personal attack, but one of opportunity.

According to the Maple Leafs' PR team, Marner was, indeed, the target of the invasive attack.
"We can confirm Mitch Marner was the unfortunate victim of a carjacking in Etobicoke on Monday evening," the team posted in a statement. "He was unharmed in the incident and the Club & Mitch are thankful for Toronto Police Services’ support. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to Toronto Police Services. TPS has asked that neither Mitch or the Club comment any further on the details of the incident as this is an ongoing investigation."
With Toronto hosting its year-end media availability on Tuesday morning, the Leafs did not make Marner available, in cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
"I'm just happy he's okay and he wasn't hurt," teammate Auston Matthews said. "I don't really know much more than you guys do, but it's great to see him here today. I can't imagine that's a fun experience to go through. We're all just glad he's okay."
Veteran forward Jason Spezza also chimed in: "It's scary; that's real life stuff. That's not hockey. That's scary. That stuff is jarring. So happy to see that he's okay."
The police continue to search for the three armed suspects and Marner's Range Rover.
