ABOUT ME I’m from a small town called Perth, about 45 minutes outside of Ottawa. I went to school there and started playing minor hockey there with the boys. There was no girls' hockey in Perth, so I went to Smiths Falls for a couple of years to play girls' hockey. I played in Carleton Place and then played with the Kanata Rangers. When I hit Grade 8, I told my parents I wanted to go to boarding school to play hockey. I went to Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ont., for Grade 9 and 10, which I loved, but I wanted to take my hockey higher than varsity girls at Trinity, so I moved to Winnipeg and went to Balmoral Hall for grades 11 and 12. I committed to Olds College in the ACAC, but didn’t like my academic courses and returned to Winnipeg. My friend from BH, Chelsea Dinnin, told me about the MWJHL and asked me to join her team, the Gray Owls.
LAST HIGHLIGHT I’ve never really been a goal scorer or a person who got any points, but my overall points compared to games played was a big accomplishment for me. And to be the leading scorer among defencemen (2-7-9) in the playoffs this year is a surprise to me.
THE FUTURE ME I’m currently taking University 1 at the University of Manitoba. I was hoping nursing would be my future, but I’m not sure. I can certainly say it will be something within the medical field.
