Snowflake product to take on new scouting role
The Winkler Flyers have announced that head coach Justin Falk will not be returning for the 2024-25 season, and instead will be taking a scouting job with an unnamed NHL club.
Falk led the Winkler Flyers to the league crown this past season and has been a pivotal part in Winkler’s turnaround over the past three seasons.
The Snowflake, MB. product led the Flyers to three playoff appearances in his three seasons with the club, including the Winkler’s first MJHL championship and Centennial Cup appearance since 1998.
Although it may sting, the franchise will need to find a new coach quickly with the season right around the corner.
Falk, 35, worked alongside fellow NHLers-turned MJHL coaches Ryan White and Eric Fehr over his tenure in Winkler. The three of them have a combined 1,337 NHL games under their collective belts and White and Fehr look to be the top candidates for the reigning Turnbull Cup champs vacant head coaching spot.
On Saturday, the Flyers made Coltyn Bates the interim GM and head coach after working under Falk for the past two seasons.
Falk played 10 seasons between the AHL and the NHL, and concluded his career with three goals and 33 points in 279 games.
