Humboldt Broncos Goaltender Arrested After Crashing Truck into House

Goaltender Jared Picklyk of the Humboldt Broncos has been suspended indefinitely by the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League following news of his arrest this past weekend. The 20-year-old Kelowna, BC. product was brought into police custody in the early morning hours on Saturday after crashing his pickup truck through a yard, over a tree and onto the deck of a 12th Avenue residence in Humboldt. Picklyk refused a breathalyzer test on scene and was arrested for failure to comply. There were no reported injuries to Picklyk or the owners of the home damaged in the wreck. Coming off a February 'Goaltender of the Month' SJHL award, Picklyk helped lead his Broncos teammates to a 6-2, series-clinching victory over the Nipawin Hawks on Friday night, which likely led to his late-night behaviour. He had previously suited up for the Western Hockey League's Lethbridge Hurricanes and Tri-City Americans. "The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has suspended Jared Picklyk indefinitely," the league posted in a statement shared to social media on Monday. "The SJHL and the Humboldt Broncos are cooperating with authorities and will not be making any further comments about the matter." Local RCMP officers are still investigating the scene of the incident, while Picklyk will need to return to Humboldt on May 8 for his scheduled provincial court date assigned following his arrest.
