Fishermen Collect Toys for the Andrushko's Drive

The Capital Region Junior Hockey League's Selkirk Fishermen have jumped on the bandwagon. And that bandwagon is important at the Holidays. Kasen Andrushko, who plays for the Fishermen, and his brother Karter Andrushko are once again collecting donations for Winnipeg's Children's Hospital and this is no flash-in-the-pan fundraising program. facts is, the Andrushkos have been doing this for 10 years -- delivering truck loads of toys for children of all ages to the Children’s Hospital at Christmas time. "We want to thank all of our family and friends who have donated in the past and hope you continue this season as well," the Andrushko boys said. "Children from birth to 17-years-of-age are in the hospital for medical reasons throughout the year so various gifts will be given out during the holiday season, and throughout the rest of the year to the many children requiring medical attention." Kasen has been part of the Children’s Hospital community since he was 9-months-old. He is now almost 17. "We are so very thankful for everything they have done for him to keep him healthy and well monitored," said the Andrushko family. "This is our way of giving back and bringing a smile to the children who are there over the holidays. "We will gladly accept any donation for the kids. Be it books, blankets, toys, crafts, coloring books, gift cards, small Lego sets, infant toys, iTunes cards, Disney brand items, Jets items, board games, anything." "We are trying to help the Andruskos collect as many new unwrapped toys as possible," said Fishermen head coach and GM, Chris Poponick and the Fish have done a pretty good job of it already. On Friday night, the Fishermen collected a load of toys for the Andrushkos at their final home game before Christmas. They also won the game, beating North Winnipeg 6-2, to improve to 13-1-0 on the season.
