Jets to face leafs without vilardi and scheifele
The Winnipeg Jets will once again be shorthanded as the team takes to the ice in Toronto for Wednesday evening's game against the Maple Leafs.
Facing an up-and-down Leafs club from Scotiabank Arena, the Jets will be without top line players Mark Scheifele and Gabe Vilardi, who are both dealing with minor lower-body injuries.
After skating in a non-contact sweater for the past week, Scheifele suited up in regular team gear for morning skate Toronto, but his status remains unchanged.
According to head coach Rick Bowness, neither player will be playing. Whether or not the hope is to have them ready for the weekend rematch at home against the same Maple Leafs on Saturday, the veteran bench boss also wouldn't say.
The Jets will see Laurent Brossoit take to the goal on Wednesday, while a number of different offensive changes will be evident in the forward combinations. The defence pairs remain untouched as the Leafs are expected to see a steady diet of Josh Morrissey and Dylan DeMelo.
Puck drop from Toronto is set for 6:00 PM central time on Wednesday. The game can be viewed live on Sportsnet.
