Reports are surfacing that suggest that there is a mutual interest between the Devils and Hellebuyck. These reports come from Kevin Weekes, a former NHL goaltender turned analyst.
Despite the New Jersey Devils already having two goaltenders, Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid, under contract for the upcoming season, it looks like there could be a strong possibility of the Jets making this trade.
Hellebuyck boasts an impressive career record, accumulating 238 wins in the NHL. Alongside his successes, he has maintained a career goals against average of 2.66, a save percentage of .916, and has earned 32 shutouts. He's also made it clear that he has no interest in being part of a team in the midst of a rebuilding phase.
Hellebuyck wants to play for the Stanley Cup and he's going to find his way on to a team that will make it happen.
