Jets send blackhawks packing, snap losing streak with 3-1 win
The Winnipeg Jets have improved to 13-8-2 with a 3-1 win over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks from Canada Life Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The Connor Bedard show was on full display, as the flashing 18-year-old made his first stop in Winnipeg in what is expected to be a long and prosperous NHL career.
He scored the game opener for his 11th of the season just 4:39 into the contest. But after 20 minutes of play it was 1-1, as Mark Scheifele tied things up on a power play strike off a nifty Gabe Vilardi move in the offensive zone.
Morgan Barron scored his fourth of the season in the middle frame, putting the finishing touches on a perfect Nikolaj Ehlers breakaway pass.
Cole Perfetti got his career-high ninth goal of the year to close out the third, putting the Jets ahead 3-1, which gave Winnipeg its 13th win of the season, and stopped its losing streak at three games.
The Jets conclude their homestand with a test against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday, before hitting the road for a lengthy trip out west.

Declan Chisholm on Connor Bedard:
“Obviously you hear all the hype around him, and he’s a lot better than I thought he was from the hype. You see how shifty he is and skilled he is. A super smart player, he’s going to be a great player.”
Rick Bowness on Connor Bedard:
"Wow, he's lived up to the billing. His Hockey IQ is off the charts, and his poise and confidence to use the IQ and the skills, he made some phenomenal plays, wow. He's worth the price of admission. He's a fun kid to watch play."
Next up for the Jets is the final test of the four-game homestand, as the Carolina Hurricanes roll into town on Monday evening. The game features an earlier 6:30 PM central start time, and can be viewed live on Sportsnet.
