WINKLER PRODUCT TAKES home WEEKLY WHL AWARD again
For the second time in February, the Western Hockey League has recognized Swift Current Broncos netminder Reid Dyck as its Goaltender of the Week.
Having taken the same honour back in the first week of February, the Winkler product has finished the month the same way he started it: red hot.
The Boston Bruins prospect went 3-0-0-0 for the Broncos with a 1.99 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage over the past week. The 20-year-old made 25 stops in a 5-2 victory over Moose Jaw on Monday, before turning aside 20 of the 21 shots he faced against the first-place Medicine Hat Tigers later in the week. Then, playing both halves of the back-to-back, Dyck made 29 saves in a 4-3 overtime win again over Medicine Hat.
Drafted by the Bruins in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound goaltender owns a stellar 19-6-2 record to go alongside a 2.59 goals against average ad a .915 save percentage in 28 appearances so far this season.
Swift Current currently sits second in the Central Division, chasing only the Tigers. They are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games played and have won six-straight. Next up for Duck and the Broncos is a set of road games beginning on Friday against the Red Deer Rebels.
