It seems fairly typical that a hockey player will be a golfer during the summer months. Especially here in Manitoba where the two sports can very rarely be played at the same time of year.
Well, if you’re anything like me you would have been very happy to see live professional golf return to TV. It’s so nice to get that sports fix.
And another thing, hockey players are skating again as they prepare for training camps in July before the return of NHL hockey. After months of negative news we finally have light at the end of the tunnel.
So with golf back that got me thinking… Which hockey players would complete your ideal golfing group?
There’s no correct answers here, so let’s dive in.
In your hockey/golf foursome are you going to take great hockey players? Are you going to take great golfers? Are you going to take four players and watch from the sidelines? Or are you going to take three players and play along with them? Which format are you going to play?
Here is my ideal group…
- I’m taking myself because I want to be involved in the action. Get me on the tee next to some of my favourite athletes, and hey, maybe I can even show them a thing or two.
- Patrik Laine – Hey, as a Winnipeg hockey fan how can’t I take Laine? I wonder if he can hit a drive like he hits his one-timer… I guess we will find out.
- Peter Forsberg – Hey, I didn’t say it had to be a current player. I was a huge Peter Forsberg fan growing up and it would be a thrill to play with him. With silky hands and great style, and I’m sure he would have great touch around the green.
- Connor McDavid – He’s the best player in the world right now. How cool would it be to say you beat Connor McDavid? I wouldn’t say which sport it was, but I think it would be cool to beat the best in the world.
